@TheBreadmonkey Britons lose £171 million worth of food a year to seagulls... but how much food do seagulls lose to humans? Can we do those calculations?

@emenel @zzt It is bizarre to me that there are people who simultaneously believe that stochastic parrots are conscious and actual parrots aren't.
Meanwhile, scientific study of animal cognition has gotten to the point that it's hard to coherently argue that *bees* aren't conscious.
(One of my personal pet peeves is the status people attach to the mirror self-recognition test.)
Huh, so apparently DHH is no longer featured on the NeoVim's website. But the maintainer decided to share his interesting thoughts about people instead: https://github.com/neovim/neovim.github.io/issues/501#issuecomment-5455572223
ah, and one thing more: asking to not align with the fascists is not “drama”, it's the right thing to do.
reacting to such request with a temper tantrum, on the other hand, is.
Not saying the lunch I just had was big but Isaac Newton's just turned up at my gaff with a load of apples saying something about wanting to study my effect on them
@zzt who also believe that all other people are "npcs" .... spend some fucking time with a cat or dog and you'll never believe a computer can think.
Baby sunflowers aren't as cute as adults. They look more like alien monsters getting ready to swallow you and your soul.

Voilà ça c'est fait.
Meshcore-open developers implemented image transport over LoRa. Images are downscaled to 512x512px, then encoded by AEIC codec [1] and then split into 163B chunks to fit into LoRa packets.
The codec requires a 800MB LLM which occupies several GB of memory when running. To transport small images over the mesh which will IMO fail in most real life scenarios because good luck delivering multiple large packets via multi-hop paths.
This implementation is about the same size as the whole code base of #Meshy. This feels like an extreme case of "because we can" enabled by subsidized tokens.
